Maryland Home Inspector Regulations
The Maryland Commission of Real Estate Appraisers and Home Inspectors has evaluated thirty home inspection curriculums submitted for consideration to the be recognized as approved home inspection pre-licensing training for licensure in the State of Maryland. All of the curriculums have been accepted based on the following agreement and conditions:
Any individual who has taken a home inspection training program in the past that has any topics included that do not meet the minimum required 48 hours of pre-licensing education as prescribed by the provision of the law under the Business Occupation and Professions Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, Section 16-3A-03 of technical core education by falling below 48 hours but not less than 32 hours will be required to supplement their hours with the Maryland supplemental 16-hour course. Listed below are examples of home inspection course topics that would result in having to take the Maryland 16-hour supplemental course.

- Marketing and Sales
- Home Inspection Business Practices/Organization
- Field Inspections
- Inspection Processes
Any individual who has taken a home inspection training program that falls below 32 hours will have to retake a 48-hour program. Continuing education will not be accepted as a substitute for the minimum 48-hour program or the 16-hour Maryland supplemental course.
